Submission Guidelines

As part of the submission process, authors are required to confirm that their manuscript complies with the following requirements.

The manuscript has not been previously published and is not under consideration by another journal.
The submission is aligned with the scope of the Journal of Justice and Human Rights Practice.
The author confirms awareness and compliance with the Journal's AI use and academic integrity guidelines.
The manuscript file is submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).
All references include URLs or DOIs where available.
The submission is properly anonymized for double-blind peer review (no author identifiers in the main file).

Formatting Requirements

  • Text must be double-spaced throughout
  • 1-inch margins on all sides
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12-point size
  • Paragraphs indented by 0.25 inches
  • Left-aligned, not fully justified
  • APA or OSCOLA referencing style
  • All pages must be numbered
  • Maximum 8,000 words (including references)
  • 250-word abstract included
  • 4–5 keywords provided

Structure and Layout

Title Page (Submitted Separately): Must include author names, affiliations, email addresses, and a short biography (2–3 sentences per author).
Main Manuscript File: Must exclude all identifying information.
Section Order:
  1. Abstract
  2. Main text
  3. Appendices
  4. Endnotes / Footnotes (as applicable)
  5. References
  6. Tables
  7. Figures

Headings and Style

Element Format
Main titles / Primary headings 14-point Times New Roman, bold, title case
Secondary headings 12-point Times New Roman, bold, title case
Sub-subheadings 12-point Times New Roman, bold italic, run-in format
Main headings numbering Numbered (1, 2, 3)
Subheadings Lettered (A, B, C), bold, title case
Lower-level headings Numbered (i), (ii), (iii), sentence case
Styling Notes:
  • Use italics for book titles, journals, newspapers, and non-English terms
  • Acronyms must be written in full at first mention
  • Active voice and modern American English are preferred
  • Block quotations (40+ words): indented, no quotation marks, on new line

Prepare Your Manuscript

Ensure your manuscript follows all formatting and structural guidelines. Remove all author identifiers for double-blind review.

Gather Supporting Documents

Prepare separate title page with author information, cover letter, and any supplementary materials.

Submit Online

Click the "Submit Your Work" button, fill out the form, and upload your files.

Confirmation & Peer Review

You will receive a confirmation email within 3-5 business days. Your manuscript will then enter the peer review process.

Publication Fees

No Article Processing Charges (APCs)! The Journal of Justice and Human Rights Practice does not charge any fees for submission, review, or publication.

All content is freely available to readers worldwide through our open access policy.
